I started this Blog way back in 2010 looking for any relationship between static electricity in the Body and general health.
Body Current.
Growing up in India was easy and simple. Almost all homes had either cement or tiled floors and no one was allowed to wear shoes inside the house. Nothing to do with religion; just cleanliness. We wore shoes outside and often stepped on animal or bird droppings or other garbage.
The floors of the homes were never mopped but washed with many buckets of water especially on festival days.
As for clothes everything was made from cotton School Uniforms, underwear, sarees, trousers name it it was made of cotton. Synthetic fibres were used for clothing in the mid sixties. It was a craze in the 70's to wear nylon trousers and terelene shirts or nylon sarees; came mostly from Taiwan and Hongkong then. My friend Deva gave me a terelene shirt from Penang and boy was I thrilled.
Large families with limited floor space at home meant "when sleep time comes and we roll out the Pai". The Kotai Pai Mat
The Pai is made from treated Korai Grass an Organic fibre. Each one of us had our own pillows and cotton sheets to cover ourselves and protect ourselves mainly from mosquitoes.
The sitting room became the bed room after 9.00pm. When we woke up the first thing we did was fold the sheets and picked up the pillow and rolled the mats and stackesd them away in another room out of sight from visitors to the house.
Never did we realise the benefits of these basic amenities then but kept longing to sleep on beds with comfy mattresses and wear foreign made synthetic clothes.
Sleeping on mats meant the body was milli meters away from the concrete floor, plus we walked barefoot at homes so our body current did not exist as we were always grounded. Also sleeping on hard floor is good because you cannot sleep in one position for too long, as the body aches reminding you to constantly move when sleeping to maintain good blood flow to all parts of the body.
By the time I moved to Sydney in 1976, 75% of the clothes I wore were synthetic. Did not have jeans then. I was worse off when I started work as I wore synthetic suits, synthetic ties, and shoes with rubber soles and not leather as they were expensive. Most office floors were fully carpeted too. All this meant I was a totally Chargeable human body unless I touched a concrete wall or parapet or something like that to discharge.
My first new Car by Choice was a Silver Mazda 6 Sedan with synthetic interiors. Every time I walked upto my car and made contact, I was getting zapped. Meaning electricity was flowing from my charged up body to the metal body of the car. Believe it or not I have seen blue sparks fly from my fingers as I got zapped.
Then the doubts started: " Is my fatigue related to static electricity ? Are my aches and pains related to this static electricity ? Does Static electric charge cause hyper acidity?
Yes endless number of questions in my head then and even now 40 years later.
Fortunately for me, at home in Sydney I am always barefoot and even though the entire house has timber flooring the kitchen and bathroom floors are tiled, so no build up of static electricity in my body when at home. Winter is a different story as I have to wear socks and shoes and synthetic sweaters all the time. Clothes these days are 95% synthetic anyway.
My curiosity was further triggered by an incident in 2001 in Madras. Post Brain stem stroke in April 2000, I ended up in Desiya Ayurvedic Clinic at Cochin for rehab and treatment which western medicine could not provide especially for PAIN.
The Night before my departure for Sydney my niece dragged me to see an astrologer. I was skeptical but did not want to disappoint my favourite niece; so I went along.
This man was no conventional Tamil astrologer. He was in his mid 30s married and living in a flat.
We sat down and I had to give him all info he needed and about my stroke etc.
He said astrologically you are having bad times because of the way your stars are oriented blah blah. I always believed these astrologers and psychics milk all information from you and give it back to you in doses.
I bet he noticed this in my facial expressions and told my niece "Saar obviously does not believe me."
He then went all silent and was almost in a trance. Physically he was there but mentally else where.
Then he said "Sir there is something wrong about where you sleep in your house. I said I sleep on a bed like every one else upstairs in the first floor."
He said something is wrong. Your body is floating in space when you sleep. It is not grounded. I did not like where this was going, but I was imagining my bed when I had my stroke and suddenly realised that the bed was on top of an open verandah; meaning right under me there was no house. Just open space with no walls and no concrete slab just a wooden floor.
When I told him this he explained about energy flowing from the body that did not make any sense. He also advised me that for speedier recovery I must walk barefoot on grass at least for ten minutes every day. He said the human body needs to be connected to mother earth as much as possible same as all animals in this world.
Now I realise he was talking about body current and about GROUNDING the Human Body.
So I did a bit of research and blogged my finds in
